GREEN LANTERN director Martin Campbell confirms the SHERLOCK HOLMES actor's involvement

THE SKINNY: All this talk of WATCHMEN's Jackie Earle Haley playing Sinestro in GREEN LANTERN has finally shaken loose the truth.

Mark Strong, the actor who played Lord Blackwood in December's SHERLOCK HOLMES, has been confirmed by GREEN LANTERN director Martin Campbell to be in negotiations to play Green Lantern's notorious mentor turned villain.

The Jackie Earle Haley rumors are "completely wrong," Campbell told MTV News. "Somebody told me about it this morning; I had never heard it before in my life."

Regarding Strong, Campbell's confident that he's perfect for the role. "He's not only a wonderful actor, but he looks like Sinestro. If you look up old pictures of Sinestro, he's very like him," said the director.

So there you have it, Mark Strong is definitely in negotiations to star as Sinestro in the upcoming GREEN LANTERN film, and Jackie Earle Haley is definitely not.
