THE SKINNY: Barry Letts, producer of DOCTOR WHO from 1970 to 1975, passed away at the age of 84 on Friday.
He produced the series during the beloved Jon Pertwee era, but his involvement with the Doctor continued well past 1975.
Letts returned to DOCTOR WHO as Executive Producer for a brief period in 1980, and even authored a number of novelizations and radio serials connected to the series.
His legacy also includes the creation of Sarah Jane Smith, who is portrayed by Elisabeth Sladen to this very day, and has recently received her own spin-off, THE SARAH JANE ADVENTURES.
A book version of Barry Letts' 2008 audio memoir Barry Letts: Who & Me, chronicling his time as producer of DOCTOR WHO and including material not found in the audio version, will be available for purchase in November.
