THE SKINNY: From the Beatles to the Bard, Julie Taymor is bringing England's best to the bigscreen. The ACROSS THE UNIVERSE director is assembling a cast for THE TEMPEST, that includes Helen Mirren, Jeremy Irons, Djimon Hounsou, Russell Brand, Alfred Molina, Ben Wishaw, Felicity Jones, and Geoffrey Rush.
In a twist from the traditional, Mirren will be playing Prospera, instead of the sorceror Prospero. The play centers around Prospera, her daughter Miranda (Jones), and a shipwrecked crew full of Prospera's enemies.
Bob Chartoff, Lynn Hendee, and Julia Taylor-Stanley are producing.
Taymor previously turned Shakespeare's TITUS ANDRONICUS into the 1999 film TITUS.
