Exclusive: JAMIE KENNEDY TALKS FOURTH 'SCREAM' FILM AND DIRECTOR WES CRAVEN MAY BE INVOLVED

The star of the first three films reveals plans for the franchise

"I actually had a conversation with somebody very big in the organization, and there’s a way," he tells iF. "I don’t know what’s going to happen, but they have plans for a lot of things. You can see new faces that you wouldn’t expect and you can see old faces that you wouldn’t believe. There’s a way to bring a lot of things around."

When asked if director Wes Craven would be involved, Kennedy confirmed that it's "the only way they're going to do it."

And what are the chances the project will actually go through? According to Kennedy, "Why wouldn’t they" he says. "Great franchise. There hasn’t been one in eight years, so it’s due. It seems like it was just yesterday."

THE SKINNY: SCREAM veteran Jamie Kennedy was on hand at the TCA's CBS afterparty to promote his new role on CBS's THE GHOST WHISPERER.

iF Magazine caught up with the funnyman to get an exclusive on the rumored fourth SCREAM movie. The Weinstein Company has been notoriously hush-hush so far on the project except to announce that they're planning to reboot the franchise.

Despite having having been killed off in the franchise, it seems as if Kennedy could still be involved.

i would love to see scream 4. and i dont think that they could possibly ruin such a good franchise. unlike some people who are too picky about everything... the only thing i dont like about scream 3: Gale's hiar. i would really like Scream 3 if not for Gale's Hair. :]

I think it takes a lot of guts to re-invent a movie, and most of the time the writers/producers are very aware that it can flop. If they have good planning, it can work for sure. Jaime is a very talented actor and Scream 4 would be awesome! I am not a huge horror movie fan, but I love the Scream series. If it happens, I will look forward to a new Scream movie and be there opening day!

I was trying to think of how the writers could actually bring back "old faces that you wouldn’t believe," and then it hit me. Could they be giving Scream 4 the 'New Nightmare' treatment? You know, with Neve being the target instead of the character she plays? If they did, they could honestly bring back any single person from the entire trilogy for it.

This is a great interview! I had doubts when I first heard a fourth Scream was in the works, but at least Jamie seems like he's for it. I still am concerned about them bringing back all of the regular cast members, though, because I liked how the third movie ended. It was a very fitting way of rounding out the trilogy. But regarding Jamie, someway, somehow, I do hope he returns for the fourth installment!!

"The Scream franchise ran out of steam after, well, after the first one." Not at all. The first was good, but the second one topped it. Good scares, and some hilarious satire. Even the third wasn't as bad as people made it out to be.

NO NO NO!!! They tied up evrything in the last one, which was terribe and Kevin Williamson should have been shot for abandoning the script duty of Scream 3; the franchise that started him off! Leave it be.
