Starbuck found the beings of light (from the old BG series) and they took her to Earth and gave her the senses of knowing what the direction is. They did this to even up the war a bit with the cylons who clearly have a technological jump on the humans. Eventually they are going to find Earth (of the past) and intermix with the primitive Earthlings. No knowledge of how they got to Earth remains but the important people of the series will become our stories of the great Greek Gods of the present. Hades, Zeus, Athena, etc. The cylons are going to self destruct in the confusion of why the final 5 are not with them. Fights between the known 7 will erupt. There might not be a great deal left of cylon when Earth is found. Perhaps just enough for one more fight and the remaining characters to crash on Earth doomed to live there permanently or privileged to live there permanently -time will tell.

Re: Paul's response. You make some good point Paul ie about starbucks viper not necessarily blowing up, but i was under the impression that that was her mind playing tricks on her. Of course thats just the kind of rabbit out of the hat trick that writers might pull. Oh and i agree about the final 5 siding with humanity.

Ron Moore is an idiot. He fucked up TNG and now he is fucking up BSG. Don't get me wrong, I like the series and the CGI is great. But, he tries to create to much drama at times, i.e. The Admiral and Apollo. He says they need to quit because they can't drag the search for Earth off. Why does finding Earth have to be the end. Why not take a page on BSG:1980, which they did with the human looking Cylons.
Adama finds Earth, but then decides it is to dangerous for the Earth for them to arrive. They go back and forth on this for another season and finally defeat the Cylons and all is right in the BSG world.

I'm gutted. I can't believe Saul is a Cylon. He is such a great character. I have a funny feeling that most of the final five will side with humanity (There is no fracking way Saul will fight with the Cylons).
I'm still not convinced Starbuck is a Cylon. I have a theory! I think her ship wasn't blown up when she flew into that wormhole cloud thing. There was an explosion, but it wasn't her ship, it could have been the Cylon ship she was following. Or maybe this is just wishful thinking. Unlike Tyrol, Sam, Tory and Saul, we know something about Starbucks upbringing. The other four could have easily had their upbringing implanted in their minds!

i love bsg its a great show and its a real shame its ending on season 4. this show is excellent and is great entertainment.theres not that many real good sci-fi shows around and when one comes along its over before giving the chance to really blossom and this show has so much more to offer. theres so many more directions for this to go. i for one think it should not be ending so soon.give it some room to breath dont be so eager to end bsg before you explore all possibilities for such a great show.

I've been thinking about the final 5 and how its been hinted at that they different from the others so I'm going to speculate, and everyone is welcome to join because i would like to hear your opinions. Just reference the name kal in your response so that i can find it with the "ctrl + f" function. I also raise these points/questions hoping that the writers will resolve them. So here goes:
For starters, we know that the final 5 age, because we have seen Kara as a child and then all grown up in a flash back. And I'm sure at least one alarm bell would have gone off for Admiral Adama if a man he had served with for +20 years hadn't aged. Yet the Cylon who first appeared as a preacher and was involved in torturing Tigh on new caprica, at some point in SE 3 said something to the effect of: Let them search (for the eye), eventually they'll die but we'll still be around, and we'll find earth eventually.
Also, we know courtesy of starbucks resurrection that they can also resurrect (and when she did she was the same age as when her viper blew up). That must mean that the copies of the final 5 age with them right? But if you consider "preacher cylons" statement it could imply that the other cylons' copies dont age unless they would go through a repeating cycle that would involve them going through infancy again. But that last possibility would also imply that at somepoint the entire cylon race would be at a stand still because we know that they are the decision makers - and they would inevitably ALL be pre-pubescent at some stage (with the possible exception of preacher cylon who seems to be quite a bit older than the rest). And before someone raises the issue of them having higher IQ's than humans, I'd dispute that because we know Baltar can manipulate them, and we haven't seen any evidence to support their being brilliant from cylons such as Sharon, Starbuck, Anders or the Sixes for that matter...
Another question is, are there multiple copies of the final 5 (eg "Gina", the 6 from the pegasus and "caprica 6" and "Boomer"/"Athena", or do the final 5 only have the one consciousness? - Also, the fact that their identities were unknown even to the cylons, must mean that the resurrection ships must have some areas that are restricted even to the decision makers right?
Related to the aging thing, what about Kara's mom and Tyrol's parents, does that make them collaborators, or will it be explained away by adoption?
Related to the aging thing, what about Kara's mom and Tyrol's parents, were they planted with them and does that make them collaborators, or will it be explained away by babies being abandoned like Moses (frm the bible) and then being adoption?
Thats about all i can think of right now... Looking forward to hearing what you guys' thoughts are.

I'm not one of those fans of the show. They have one last season to convince me that they are better they the original (so far they have not). The writing is unrealistic, unnatural, and unbelievable. Two Examples: Adama and Starbuck would both in a real military organization have been cashiered. Adama for incompetence (a whole year orbiting New Captica and the Beta Landing Bay is still inorperable. Starbucks attitude would have had her thrown out of the miltiary in boot camp or if she made it through there in the Brig for her actions. Moore is simply not a good military man or has a good background or advisor in military affairs. Anything not needed to move the story along should be left out and move the story along not delay it. This show could have lasted a long time (SG-1 a good example). The fact that he is ending it here shows no real imagination to take the story further along. How about the humans fighting back finally and retaking the Homeworlds from the Cylons? There's a real story.

When Battlestar Galactica wraps up I'd like to see the next show to be, KOBOL. Get to the REAL begining of this story. I'd like to see the tale of the 13th colony that went off and settled on Earth, and the how and why they left the trail that they did, and who exactly was Pythia? Really?

Don't see why this has to be the final seaason for BSG. I agree with keeping romance to a minimum, and avoid turning into a soap opera. However, the timliness of its many human, societal, and political messages could continue to stretch our imagination and insight. As long as talented, dedicated people are willing to work on this show, it has the potential to thrive.

In the Begining the Gods created Man. Man was the servant of the Gods. In time, Man resented be the slaves of the Gods and they rebelled against their creators. They destroyed the Gods and their world of Kobol, then fled to the stars. They settled on the Twelve Colonies, save for one group that traveled far and away from the others. In time the Gods and Kobol became myth, and Man forgot the truth. Man then repeated the mistakes of the Gods and created life, the Cylon. "All of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again."

I for one liked the old series and love the new...and the score of both is awsome as well..but putting everything that's been said here behind, what I always expected in the old series and now in the new, although it proved a false hope then, is that when they find Earth and Earth they must find, it won't be some uninhabited planet or perhaps even worse, they arriving on like our present day, bumping into some shuttle who can't make it past the moon..I mean where is the salvation in that? Maybe it's just me but I never liked sci-fi mixing with reality.. I strongly hope that when they find Earth there's gonna be some kick ass battle between the tin heads and some totally cool tech advanced Earth warships...but maybe this is just as good as it gets?

I have a lot of faith in the writers of the show.. We all thought the skinjobs had only infiltrated 2 years before the attack but that has been blown out of the water by Tyrol. Yeah, I went there.
I am watching from season 1 again...in hindsight there are lots of hints that The Chief is a skinjob. He worked out Boomer was a skinjob quite early on but did nothing to turn her in.

Having become a recent convert to Galactica, as well as having watched the entire series in 2 months I suppose I'm not as heavily invested, but unless season 4 changes my mind I think it may be best to end it there. Don't get me wrong I love the series and have a group of friends that meets to watch it. There are so many directions this show could take that there could be years of fresh, interesting episodes... However the last half of season 3 seemed to me like there was a lot of filler. The amount of the show now composed of several people hallucinating and having flashbacks is comparable to amnesia in soap operas and makes it seem like they are running out of ideas. I think the writers and producers should go back and watch the first 2 seasons and remember what the show is about before making the 4th or they'd be best ending it with a real ending before it gets canceled from lack of ratings. There's plenty of shows you can see people have weird dreams, flashbacks, and marital problems. This show is supposed to be about the remainder of humanity battling against extinction and fighting Cylons.

Mehmet Mamger from Adana / Turkey sez....
I think all the Twelve Colonies of Kobol were originally machines created by human, living on Earth. Cylons discovered or are suspicious of this fact. Human beings created some organic machines, gave them some gods from ancient myths and from zodiac and somehow started to kill them in their first planet. These new organic robots may have reproduced, which may have been the reason why they suddenly became "unwanted" and and also the chance which made possible their survival.
After a long time these organic robots developed to produce their own robot, namely Cylons.
In this season, I think we will learn something like that. :)

Great show, truly brilliant. And as for making Saul a cylon another stroke of genius, the fact that he killed Ellen, and that he hates the cylons so much (even being sceptical when Adama and Rosalin are willing to at least use them for information) makes the stakes greater for him. I dont care so much about Anders and Tory but for Tyrol and Tigh I'm devastated, I am so invested in these characters that the fourth season couldn't start soon enough... I can't wait to see how it plays out for final 4 psychologically, but i have so much faith in the writers to do a good job that I'd willingly go on this rollercoaster without the restraint!
And I hear you Murry, I watch BSG off of a South African satellite service and we only saw the finale on 28-8-07.

I think ending in season 4 is too soon, it really doesn't seem like its enough time to really end it properly. I also hope that they end it with a two hour episode, but as one episode, not two one week and then the next. I love this show as a sci-fi, but also as just a regular t.v. show. I believe it to be one of the strongest written shows on television today. Are the four relly cylons? What are their future intentions. Will the war continue to earth or will it fall short of earth. Will the colonials win the war even. It could be that the humans lose and the cylons integrate and take over slowly. Hope not!
Great question from Ron about Chief Tyrols baby. Also good questions from Stephen.

It is a shame such a great show is ending so soon, yes. But, they want to get out while the going is good. Remember Stargate SG1? The people who made that had the chance to leave it at season 8, and they could've simply made a spin off on the Ori. But no...an entirely new season and new enemy, with a painfully slow, boring arc playing out. And they managed to get it cancelled - after all those times they considered simply ending the show before season 8, plus their original plans for The Lost City Parts 1 & 2 to be made into a movie. Still, a shame. The Galactica's crew better show them cylons what's what!
Also, a few mistakes above...Enterprise only lasted for 4 seasons, Stephen. And even though I liked it, it's ending was absolutely terrible. Let's hope Galactica goes out with a real bang. Second, David Parrish - just because Tigh, Tori, Anders and Tyrol have been 'revealed' as cylons, it doesn't mean they're the enemy - it just means they're not 100% Human. Sharon (Athena) is a cylon, but she's been on our side for a lot of the time. We can't be jumping to conclusions about their intentions now - maybe some of them go against the fleet and some of them remain on our side.

I think Dave from Texas is jumping to conlusions. We don't know if the final 4 are going to turn out to be the enemies. It's been stated that the final 4 are an entirely different type of Cylon, perhaps created by the Kobalites or early Colonials. We are probably going to find by theory just how reincarnation is possible and maybe the people of Earth are already part Cylon.
I can't wait until they get to Earth and certainly hope that it's today's Earth but showcasing what may have been a past civilization on Earth would be very interesting indeed.
This story needs some closure. I'm tired of waiting 6-10 months between seasons.

allow me to back radii in requesting no-more stand alone episodes. they have been the weakest in each season, from "scar" (never heard from again) to "the woman king" (the arrival of refugees on galactica is never really mentioned). As someone who faithfully plans their sunday nights around the greatest thing to ever play on my television, i can't begin to adequately express the frustration of having some crappy stand-alone stall plot development.
my further nagging is to request Starbuck be outed as a cylon already! seriously! we get it. She's a faster smarter more perfect a pilot than the rest, she's been running in the right circles (ie: fleet commanders directly responsible for acts of aggression, whose sons she just can't get enough of.) From what i have seen of the Razor preview, the shot of Kara speaking with Kendra does suggest this is coming, but i only hope there isn't some tired way-too-convenient explanation for this. After all, neither Lee nor kara mentions any sort of recent interaction with the pegasus when it first arrives! As a devout evangelical Battlestar fan, when numerous converts to my name, i implore this of the writing staff. This is the bitter pill to swallow, please don't take this character down some tired been-done-too-many-times-before messianic plot-line. Remember 33? remember what a great episode that was? Remember why? i bet it has something to do with the total lack of heroism played out in the shades-of-grey storyline. BSG is great because it has the nerve to do what others won't. If all you're going to do is have starbuck be some boring jesus-esque type, maybe have her start using the force in the first episode so i can get a start on my letters of apology to all those i have turned onto this gift of a show.

I can understand the call for more BSG, but there have been plenty of shows that only run four (or fewer) seasons, and it was the right thing to do. Sometimes more is not better (Star Wars Prequels, anyone?). The writing has been fantastic, and if they do it right, this could end beautifully. Take what you have and revel that they are getting out when the getting is good. No reason to let it run itself into the ground. These are great stories, but these same writers could always move on to better things that we will love as well. As to season 3 sucking, I agreed at first... but the elegance that the writers have displayed in tying up elements and plot lines has made me reconsider. They have a plan, dang it. let's see how it plays out.

there's so much you could do with this show, and considering
all the other crap we're bombarded with, it would be great to think we'll have at least 2 more years of SOMETHING good!
what about a movie after they get to earth? will there be life already there, if so, how will the earthlings react to sudden colonization by alien humans and cylons alike? we've all seen the movies and heard the conspiracy theories over the years......it would be great to tie the Galactica fleet's arrival in with all of that. with all the paranoia of the government, military, and the common hippie, how do you plan to cover all that in a final season if you're ending it at season 4? just a thought.........

To David Parish: The fact that you think Cylons are automatically the enemy means you've missed out on one of the most important messages of the show. The other is not inherently different than us -- be they Iranians, Germans, Africans or Cylon. They're all human. Don't you get it? I suppose you think Sharon is the enemy, too? This show is about how we and our supposed enemies are equally capable of cruelty and kindness. The cylon occupation of New Caprica and converting people to God was similar to Americans invading Iraq and occupying them to condescendingly teach them democracy, while still rounding up whole towns of people and torturing many innocents. Perhaps if fans of the show watched the news they'd better understand just how unique and realistic and insightful about human nature this show is. I add my voice to the chorus wishing this show continued beyond Season 4!

I must agree with the current, standing quorum: too soon an ending for such a great series. Additionally, I think Stephen hit the nail on the proverbial head with his series of questions. I am sure there are more but his suffice to provide sufficient reason for keeping this series around a season or two more beyond just four. And I have to agree with Ross from Dublin's point that Season 3 was an abysmal mess throughout the middle half. This alone warrants a fifth season to clear up some of the headaches caused by the chaotic story lines and only partially germinated ideas brought to light last season. Finally, I still have my doubts about the small group of Colonials who believe they are Cylons actually being Cylons. I think, like the music, it is all in their collective heads.

Question 1. Why would one of the most critically acclaimed and powerful sci fi shows and actually one of the best shows on TV be ended after only 4 seasons? Even the horrible show Enterprise dragged on for 5 seasons.
Question 2. It has never been explained who
Baltar is really seeing in his head. She looks like #6 but it is clear from her knowledge of future events and her description of herself, "An angel of God" that she is not a cylon. Other people have seen similar beings in their head, Starbuck saw the cyclon who was obsessed with her and #6 saw Baltar. Who are these beings?
Question 3. Who were the 12 gods? What connection do they have with the cylons? Are each of the cylon models actually a replica of the 12 original gods of the colonies mythology?
Question 4. Who is the cylon God? They speak of the one God? Who or what is this? They never tell us why they have that belief or where it came from or even what it is about.
So, Ronald D. Moore, if your going to put a stop to some of the best TV in a long time then at least give us the answers to these important questions.
Thank you,
Steve

Was a bit disappointed when first heard that season 4 was to be the last but just glad it gives them time to do as good job as they can with the writing and effects, fingers crossed ! Cheers to Warner home video, Razor is a great idea, will keep us going until 2008 !

Thanks to the Warner Home Video guys for getting them to make something the fans want. Ron D Moore seems to have lost touch. Season 3 went rapidly downhill from Pegasus's destruction to free up set space for crappy base star interiors. The final episodes revelations stretched credibility past breaking point. Please redeem yourselves with Season 4.

I love this show, shame that NZ seems to be last on the list for the airing and DVD releases... therefore I must download. But i'll still buy it when it comes out.... ethics man, ethics.
